Adventure Knitting this Thursday

Knitting Adventure with The Twisted PurlCome join us this Thursday, from 6:00-8:00, as we dive into an adventure. A knitting adventure…

A Day in the Woods is an amazingly fun pattern book by Lee Meredith.

Do you remember those books where you chose your own adventure by turning to a certain page or choosing your path?  This is just like that, but with KNITTING!!!

If you are able to contain your excitement…um what is wrong with you!??  Haha

The way this book works is you pick your path.  Your path is either a Hat, Cowl, Fingerless Mitts, or a Coffee Sleeve.  Then you choose your options like looking at a certain tree etc.  You can use any weight yarn and any size needles and easily make over 100 different pattern variations.

On Thursday, September 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 we will be embarking upon the adventure together creating a coffee sleeve.  You can choose the options of your choice, but we us all being on the same path we can help to orientate you to the glorious options available in the book.

There will be a Facebook Group page for those in the Adventure Club where you can ask questions and show off your projects.

This is just the FIRST in our Adventure Club Knitting exploration.  There are two more books in this series…so we may just be in for a long journey.

Hope you will join us!!!  CLICK HERE TO RESERVE YOUR SPACE

Each square, or block, builds upon the skills learned in the previous patterns, giving knitters more confidence, knowledge and skill. At the completion of the series, the reward is an abundance of knitting know-how along with 12 gorgeous blocks to assemble into a sampler afghan.”

Are you ready for some Football??? Join Team Twisted in the Scoreboard KAL

Football season is almost here!  For me, this is a big YIPEEEE!  For others, this time of year is painfully boring.  We have teamed up with Skacel and Michelle “Knit Purl” Hunter to help put more fun into football.

Scoreboard KAL

Join us as we knit-a-long with our favorite teams and document every point scored in this football season by knitting one row in the round to represent each point.  You pick your teams two colors, the main color represents your teams points, and the secondary color represents the opponents points.  When the game is over, knit a round of a third complimentary color and then start again next weekend.  You simply knit in the round for each point scored and end up with a really fun cowl representing the whole season.  FUN!!!

Here’s the description from ScoreboardKAL.com

“Slated to kick off with the beginning of the football season, the 2015 Scoreboard KAL will allow fans to capture their favorite team’s season in the form of a hand-knit SCOREBOARD cowl!”

Check out their website and stop by The Twisted Purl to get your supplies. Yarn is scheduled for delivery September 1, 2015.

We will link to the free pattern as soon as it’s available!

TEAM TWISTED will be knitting when each point is scored during all the Arkansas Razorbacks, UCA Bears, Hendrix Warriors, Dallas Cowboys, and or the Conway Wampus Cats Varsity.  You don’t have to do all the teams, just pick your favorite or a loved ones favorite (just think of what a cool gift this would make for the football fanatic in your life)  If you miss a game and need your team’s knitting stats, we’ll even have an option to sign up for weekly stat updates.

Get your needles ready and let’s kick of the 2015 football season in crafty style!

Back to Basics: Labeling and Knitting

Hey Guys!  My week at The Twisted Purl was pretty short due to some more bad weather around these parts.  It is supposed to warm up next week.  I’m just hoping it will finally turn into Spring like it has in the studio.  I went back to my roots at The Twisted Purl by helping with the labeling and packaging of Spring time soaps.  All of the colors are so happy, and most of the soaps that was labeled are already on their way to stores around the world.  Here are some photos of all of the soaps on the table.  Cyndi had arranged some of them into this cute heart shape before I even arrived.

When we were all done labeling, I looked into the bucket we had been depositing the labeled soaps into, and it was overflowing.  Cyndi said she wished she could just keep that bucketful for when Christmas hits next year, since she can barely make soaps as fast as people order them around the holidays!

After finishing up with the soaps, Cyndi helped me remember how to knit.  Granted, I’ve never been a good knitter.  I’ve always had my mom to start and stop for me, and I’ve only ever made very simple scarves with very even and machine made yarn.  I had to learn again on the yarn I made myself, which for those of you who read my last post know, the yarn was very uneven and crazy.  Some parts of the little splotch I knitted are very nice looking, some are too thick, and some are so thin that they are curling up on themselves.  Here is the finished product.  I think it looks like a really ugly bow-tie, or maybe even a strand of DNA.

But this little corner of my creation actually looks decent!  The yarn here was some of the later stuff I made, so I had gotten a little bit more consistent when it comes to using a drop spindle.

I hope everyone has a good week!  I’m going to be hoping for more Spring weather so that next week in the studio will be a very long and full one!

Until then,

Zoe B.
