Day One DFW Fiber Fest On the Road

Day one of the DFW Fiber Fest is now behind us. Gail and I survived and arrived! We visited several local yarn shops and had a great time! First part of the road trip was not our friend but we powered through.

The road was not

Our first stop was Knit Unto Others in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. This store is precious y’all!!!  The owner is the absolute best and the selection is to die for! Did a bit of stash enhancement and picked up a skein of self-striping sock yarn hand dyed by local dyer Colored by Kristi. This yarn is the bomb!

Back on the road, we drove through just a bit more of bad weather and then stopped in Texarkana (on the Texas side) at the Yarn Garden.  I didn’t have the chance to meet the owner but chatted a bit with a friendly local spinner. This shop had a lot of Madelinetosh and Hedgehog. My stash enhancement from here was a beautiful skein of Tosh Merino Light in the Gemini Twins color, and La Jolla in California Coast.

Our last stop of the day was at Texas’s largest yarn shop, the Fiber Circle. It lived up to it’s name y’all! Maybe it was the weather and being frazzled from the road trip but we were overwhelmed. It was crazy! Two stories bursting at the seamed with yarn. Did I say crazy? It was freaking insane. I’m sure I walked around with my mouth wide open the whole time. Honestly, I couldn’t even focus. Yarn for days, y’all, FOR DAYS! I found one yarn I couldn’t leave without. It was a hand dyed BFL yarn from Feeederbrook Farm. They carried a couple local dyers but both are at the Fiber Fest so I held off buying those.

After that we arrived at the hotel, after several missed turns…it was a day!
