We will be participating in the Hands On Arts Activities for all ages on Saturday, 10th from 10AM to 12PM. Two hours of non-stop fun and fiber frenzy action. At our station, you can try your hand at spinning yarn…either by drop spindle or by wheel. We will be bringing out ole Betsy, our first spinning wheel made out of PVC pipes and a plastic wheel chair wheel. There will be tons of fiber to feel and play with including merino, barn yard wool, tencel, cotton, and a surprise or two.
Have you ever wanted to paint wool? See what happens when you pick the color and place the brush on the wool. This is our first ever Hands On Demonstration for painting fiber. Come out and paint the morning away. Once the wool is finished and in it’s full painted glory, we will bring it home, set
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM : Hands-On Art Activities for Kids of All Ages
Experience a variety of creative arts “under the tent” at Simon Park. Kids of all ages, from 2 years old to 99, are invited to view artists as they create their art before your very eyes. Then join in and let your creativity flow by participating in hands-on activities supervised by the artists themselves!
You will see:
Chris Massingill, ceramic artist and UCA, throwing her pots on her wheel and making something beautiful out of a lump of clay;
Cyndi Minister, Twisted Purl Yarn artist, demonstrating carding wool and showing you how to use a drop spindle;
Lois Giorgis, watercolor artist, creating a watercolor picture before your eyes; and,
Jeanetta Darley, collage artist, assembling bits and pieces and odds and ends to create unconventional art. Join her in creating your own collage masterpiece.
